POLICE have launched a probe after a delivery driver was run over by a car while on duty. 

The 34-year-old was struck by a BMW on High Barholm in Kilbarchan on Thursday, August 8 at around 3.10 pm.

Police said he was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where was treated and discharged. They described his injuries as serious. 

The force have now launched a probe into the incident. 

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Around 3.10pm on Thursday, August 8, a 34-year-old man was seriously injured when he was struck by a BMW car on High Barholm, Kilbarchan.

"He was taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, where he was treated and has since been discharged.

"No other people were injured as a result of the crash.

"Enquiries into the incident are continuing."

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe has been set up for the DPD driver, who is based at the Glasgow Cambuslang Depot, following the incident.

It states: "We are raising money for our friend and colleague here at Glasgow Cambuslang Depot who got ran over in Johnstone.

"As most drivers are on a self-employed basis we thought we would set up a GoFundMe to try help support him and his family at this awful time."
