YOUNGSTERS from Midlothian and Edinburgh were ejected from East Lothian after complaints about anti-social behaviour.

“Numerous” youngsters have been referred to East Lothian Council’s anti-social behaviour team after police spent Friday and Saturday night splitting up large groups across the county.

Officers from the East Lothian Community Action Team were joined by colleagues at Fisherrow Harbour and Cockenzie Harbour, as well as Prestonpans’ Cuthill Park.

That came in relation to large groups of youths congregating, drinking alcohol and being involved in anti-social behaviour.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Officers responded to the calls where a number of youths were dispersed and alcohol was confiscated from them.

“The vast majority of youths in the Musselburgh area had travelled from Midlothian and Edinburgh and were escorted by police to buses to travel back to their own areas.

“Numerous youths have been referred to the East Lothian Council Anti-social Behaviour Team.

“Three males were searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and were found in possession of controlled substances.

“They were charged accordingly by officers.”
