AN INITIATIVE created by Haddington’s resilience group during the coronavirus lockdown looks set to be extended.
A lending library offering people the chance to borrow books, games and jigsaws was established in May.
The project has proven popular throughout the town, with people spending an increased amount of time indoors due to the pandemic.
Pat Lemmon, who has been involved with the resilience group and is a member of the town’s community council, was keen to see the scheme remain in place.
She said: “The lending library will continue as long as it is needed.
“We have a core group of 50 people and these are people after the end of July who are still wary about coming out.
“We have to respect they have a need and we can provide for that as long as we can.”
Each of the donated items goes through a thorough sanitising to ensure they are clean before they are loaned.
