A 13-YEAR-OLD boy has been charged in connection with possession of a knife.
Police officers have been working alongside East Lothian Council to tackle anti-social behaviour and disorder in the county.
The knife was recovered on Haddington’s Market Street on Wednesday (July 1) and a report will be submitted to the Children’s Reporter.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “We are aware of community concerns around anti-social behaviour and disorder and want to reassure people that we remain completely committed to tackling this.
“It is a criminal offence to carry a knife and doing so can have tragic consequences.
“It is vital that, if you know someone is carrying a knife or a weapon, you report this to a person of authority.
“You have a responsibility not to be a bystander in your community.
“Young people are encouraged to tell a parent, teacher, youth worker, police or any trusted adult if they have information about a person carrying a weapon.”
