ROTARIANS have raised a glass to Scotland’s most famous export – with an unusual fundraiser.

The Rotary Club of Haddington has been busy during the coronavirus lockdown, including working alongside groups such as Our Community Kitchen.

On June 16, the group had a lockdown social and fundraising event via an online whisky tasting experience.

Also involved were Rotary colleagues from Inverkeithing and Dalgety Bay in Fife.

Graham Blaikie and Neil Forbes, of 1775whiskypassport, had sent out generous-sized sample whiskies to each person in advance, with members logging in through Zoom for the session.

A spokesman for the Haddington group said: “The banter was good throughout the session (and got better by the third dram!).

“Neil took us through each whisky in turn, pointing out how best to examine the ‘legs’, sample the flavour and add a little water, and we all had the chance to savour the fine palate of each whisky. We had a Bruichladdich, Glenfiddich Project XX and Caol Ila from Islay.

“Because there was a charge for the event, funds were raised which will go towards the good work done by Rotary in the community.”
