ANOTHER attempt is being made to breathe new life into a former coastguard station.
The small building on Dunbar’s Lamer Street has sat empty since the town’s coastguard team moved to Spott Road Industrial Estate more than six months ago.
In April, East Lothian Council’s planning department turned down Judy Oxley’s bid to turn the building into a beachfront home.
At that time, planners took the view that the constrained nature of the building would allow neither privacy nor amenity for occupants.
Ms Oxley has lodged an appeal against that decision and has also submitted further plans to see the building transformed into holiday accommodation.
A supporting statement, included with the latest planning application, notes discussions have already taken place between the applicant and planners, with “positive feedback”.
Drawings show the building would see a bedroom, dining room and wet room created downstairs, with a living room, storage space and balcony above.
