A school has led the wave of tributes coming in for a 'much loved' pupil after his death. 

The 16-year-old Saif Mohammed died after falling in the water at Pollok Country Park. 

Police, ambulance and a fire crew were rushed to the scene at around 5.10pm on Tuesday.

The school community has been left devastated after his identity was confirmed yesterday.

A tweet by Hillpark Secondary reads: "Our school community is devastated to hear of the tragic news.

"Our hearts go out to Saif's family & friends. Saif was a respected and much-loved pupil and we know that everyone will be very shocked by his death.

"We will do all we can to offer support to our school community."

The spokeswoman for the school added that the pupils and school community were to organise an outdoor memorial service. 

Glasgow youth councillor Amy Smith and friend to Saif added to the tributes: "I am still in utter shock tonight, my thoughts are with everyone in the wider school community and beyond.

"Looking forward to paying tribute soon and saying a farewell to one of the nicest guys I have ever met.

"His smile was unforgettable and I am gutted that it is gone."

One person said: "Heartbreaking Thoughts are with Saif's family and friends."

Another added: "My thoughts go out to his family, friends and the Hillpark community at this devastating time."

Other schools across the city joined in to pay their respect to the teenager. 

Kings Park Secondary said: "We are all deeply saddened to hear of this tragedy and are sending all our love and sincere condolences to Saif's family and friends and all of the Hillpark Secondary community."

And Govan High added: "Thinking of you all and sending our thoughts to the whole school community."

The force have said there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the boy's death.
