WE'LL have to live with our crazy hair styles for two more weeks – but barbers and hairdressers are already prepared.

Galashiels barber Luigi Caterino owns The Italian Job on High Street.

He told the Border Telegraph he's looking forward to welcoming customers again, adding that he's already fully booked via his new online system.

Mr Caterino said: “We’re really excited about getting back, after so many months of being closed.

“We’ll try to maintain the two-metre distancing in the shop, we’ll have plexiglass covering the counter, we’ll be wearing gloves, face masks…”

The barber will receive one customer at a time and asks that they wear a mask – but he will provide a disposable one to anyone who does not have their own. Customers must also already have washed their hair before arrival.

The barber, who has been on the high street for seven years, will not accept walk-in clients.

“One hour after we set up the [online] booking system, we were fully booked for two weeks,” said Mr Caterino.

“We just put it up on social media after Nicola Sturgeon announced when we could reopen.”

Mr Caterino added: “I’m so happy to return. I can’t wait to be in our shop again, with our customers.”

Hairdressers and barbers will be allowed to reopen from July 15, as long as Scotland shows continued progress in curbing coronavirus.
