Primark queues stretch across Glasgow city centre

Queues outside the Primark on Argyle Street stretched around the corner to Paesano's on Miller Street from 8am, with more people joining as the time goes by. 

The Glasgow Times told last week that the stores will have social distancing measures in place to protect shoppers and staff. 

Primark on Argyle Street is only allowing ten customers at a time.

However, the long wait did not discourage some Glaswegians who "really missed" being able to browse Primark. 

Hannah Bradley, 20, from Dennistoun, said: “I’ve really missed it [primark]. I’m not excited to get Pajamas.

"We’ve been inside so long I really missed being able to pick up a pair that aren’t a fortune because a lot of them online are and you wouldn’t even think that for only pajamas."

Another shopper, Courtney Brown, 17, Springburn, said: “I want to get socks, pants, bras, make up, pajamas... everything.

"I’ve missed it so much. It’s so busy. I’ve been here since it opened.

"The woman who worked there it would only take 10 minutes to get in though. I think the queue is going fast."

Primark CEO, Paul Marchant, said: “We have really missed our customers in Scotland, and we are delighted to be back open, providing customers with the quality, affordable products they love from Primark.

“While it might take a little longer to get into store, once inside, customers will find all their favourite Primark products and plenty of choice as usual. We have worked hard to make sure that clear signage and extra help will be there to guide them through the changes we have made to allow for social distancing.

“We are also asking customers to respect the measures we have put in place to help ensure shopping at Primark is an enjoyable, safe experience for everyone.”
