BOGUS workmen have allegedly been operating in Ormiston.
Last Wednesday and Thursday, police received reports from residents in the village of men visiting their homes and offering manual labour work, including clearing gutters and cleaning roof areas and tiles.
The residents then stumped up cash but claimed that the work had not been completed to a satisfactory standard or was not completed at all.
The men in question were seen travelling in a white Ford Transit van, registration number EF64 DJV.
Police in East Lothian are making further enquiries and have appealed for anyone else with information to come forward. Trading Standards have also been informed.
