AN AWARD named after a double world boxing champion will again be presented at Preston Lodge High School.
The Josh Taylor Sports Award is presented to a pupil at the boxer’s former secondary school who has stood out in their chosen sport.
Last year, S3 pupil Adon Davie won the award for his efforts in Moto GP, racing across Britain and Europe.
More than a dozen awards were handed out last June in a special ceremony.
Now, the secondary school is preparing for this year’s annual sports awards, with nominations for the awards closing last week.
Twenty-nine-year-old Taylor, from Prestonpans, is unbeaten in his 16 professional bouts, winning 12 by knockout.
In May last year, he won the IBF World Super Lightweight title with a victory over Ivan Baranchyk, before going on to claim the WBA World Super Lightweight belt with a win over Regis Prograis in London in October. Prior to turning professional, he also took gold in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in the light welterweight section in 2014.
