A MUSSELBURGH schoolgirl has drawn a huge picture at the end of her driveway as a thank you to all key workers – including her mum and dad.

Lucy Malcolm, nine, lives near Pinkie Primary School with mum Dianne, who works in the maternity department at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh; dad Keith, who works for Royal Mail; 19-year-old brother James, an apprentice electrician; and 15-year-old brother Craig, a pupil at Musselburgh Grammar School.

Lucy, a primary four pupil at Campie Primary School, used chalk to draw the image without any help.

Her gran Ann Malcolm, who lives on the town’s Riverside Gardens and is a former headteacher of Windygoul and Saltoun Primary Schools, said: “It’s quite amazing.

“Her parents were taken aback and really appreciated it.

“Some of the neighbours also went over to have a look at it.

“That’s what it’s all about, though, thanking these key workers and celebrating them.”

Ann said that the family have been coping well with lockdown, with Lucy’s brothers James and Craig helping to look after Lucy while their parents were at work.

She added that she was looking forward to reuniting with the family and her grandchildren for a socially distanced chat.
