POLICE have renewed their appeal for information following a fatal crash near Dirleton on Thursday afternoon - and particularly want a woman who stopped at the scene to come forward.

A 47-year-old man died after his silver Audi A4 collided with a black Ford Fiesta on the A198 near Station Road at about 12.45pm. His name has not been released.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to a woman driving a dark coloured 4x4 vehicle who stopped at the scene as her information "may be very helpful".

The Fiesta’s 25-year-old driver was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries.

Sergeant Jennifer Forbes, from Police Scotland's road policing unit, said:"Our enquiries into the crash are still continuing.

"We have had a decent response to our earlier appeal but we are still keen to speak to anyone who was in the area, between 12.30pm and 12.50pm, who may have dash-cam footage, to get in touch.

“We appeal in particular to a woman driving a dark coloured 4x4 vehicle who stopped at the scene to come forward. Her information may be very helpful to our investigation."

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 1444 of  June 4.
