TENNIS success in East Lothian has been recognised at Westminster.

Bryan Leslie, of Gullane Tennis Club, was named Volunteer of the Year, while the East Lothian Open, which takes place in North Berwick, won Competition of the Year at the Tennis Scotland Awards.

Kenny MacAskill, East Lothian MP, highlighted the success with an Early Day Motion in the House of Commons last month.

The motion called on the House of Commons to congratulate those involved while noting “that both winners will go on to be shortlisted for the Lawn Tennis Association awards, covering the whole of Great Britain and [aimed] to celebrate the wonderful contribution of those people and venues through bringing tennis to new people and places from volunteers to officials”.
