THE road connecting Macmerry to Tranent was closed earlier this morning (Wednesday) after a crash took place and a car caught fire.
The incident is said to have happened on the A199 near Annfield Farm and Winton Loan at about 8am this morning.
Two vehicles were involved in the incident, a lorry and a car.
The car involved later caught fire but its driver only received minor injuries.
The driver of the lorry was uninjured.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "About 8am this morning, Wednesday May 20, a two vehicle road crash happened on the A199 road between Tranent and Macmerry, near to Annfield Farm.
"A lorry and a car were in collision.
"The driver of the car received minor injuries and the driver of the lorry was uninjured.
"The road at the scene was closed for a short time.
"The car involved caught fire. The Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the fire."
