ACTOR Martin Compston has congratulated Celtic over their nine-in-a-row league win.

The Line of Duty star, who plays Detective Sergeant Steve Arnott in the hit crime drama, took to Twitter to express his delight over the victory.ย 

He also had a cheeky dig at league rivals Rangers by sharing a video featuring impressionist Darren Farley portraying Steven Gerrard.

The 36-year-old Celtic fan beamed: "Title was won to the letter of the law, the letter!

"Congrats Celtic FC champions again, ole ole."

Compston recently starred in the thriller The Nest and is a lifelong supporter of the club.

He was one of many celebrities leading the victory messages on social media.

Primal Scream fronted by singer Bobby Gillespie said: "Congratulations Celtic FC.

"Scottish League Champions nineย times in a row winning 26 games out of 30 scoring 89 goals conceding just 19 with a 13 point lead at the top of the table.

"We are Champions for a reason."

Band of Brothers actor Ross McCall said: "History made today. We all want football back, but because of where the world is at, and after a blistering season, Glasgow Celtic - who were 13 points ahead - were once again crowned the Champions of Scotland. Absolutely brilliant, lads."
