CORONAVIRUS and a nationwide lockdown are holding up plans to create a soft play centre in Dunbar.

George Queen was given planning permission in March to transform a former Belhaven Brewery warehouse into a soft play area with café.

However, coronavirus has left Mr Queen unsure when he will be able to declare the business open.

He said: “I am just like everybody else and wondering what will happen next.”

Work has been carried out inside the building, off the town’s Spott Road, in preparation for the soft play equipment being put in place.

But Mr Queen, who lives in the town, told the Courier he was unsure when the equipment would be ordered or ready to be installed.

Between eight and 10 jobs are expected to be created through Mr Queen’s business, with parking for almost 50 cars and spaces for bicycles.

There is also an E-Edition that can be read on your PC, phone or tablet - just click the ‘E-Edition’ tab under the Courier masthead on the homepage of this website for more details.

We want to be able to continue telling you all about our community heroes: our NHS staff, council staff, teachers, carers, shop owners and shop workers, posties and bus and train drivers and the army of volunteers in every town and village helping the vulnerable.

But we need your support to do so. If you can, please buy a paper. And keep safe and keep well.

Thank you.
