A MAN has been arrested for allegedly trying to raid a popular Renfrew watering hole.

It is claimed the 37-year-old was found by members of staff from Cotton's Bar, in Ferry Road, on Monday evening.

Police say pub bosses rushed to the bar when the alarm was set off at around 6.50pm.

It is alleged they then found the man inside and called the police, who arrested him at the scene.

The accused has since been released on an undertaking and will appear in Paisley Sheriff Court at a later date.
