ANOTHER clap for our carers event takes place this evening (Thursday) and residents across East Lothian are being invited to join in.
This will be the third time the event has taken place, with those behind the initiative keen to see it become a regular occurrence every week.
The nationwide campaign aims to pay tribute and thank all of the key workers who are putting themselves at risk and are still at work despite the coronavirus outbreak.
For the past two weeks, communities across East Lothian have joined in and broken into applause from their doorsteps, windows and balconies at 8pm.
Some have used household items, including pots and spoons, to make as much noise as they can.
A new appeal is also set to be launched tonight under the hashtag #OneMillionClaps to help raise money to support NHS staff and volunteers.
People can donate £5 towards the appeal by texting ‘CLAP’ followed by any messages of support to 70507.
It is hoped one million people will donate £5, raising £5million.
The money will be used to buy food, travel, accommodation and counselling for NHS staff and volunteers.
