COMMUNITIES across East Lothian came together and took part in the second 'clap for our carers' event last night (Thursday).

It aims to give recognition to all of the NHS and key workers that are currently battling with the ongoing corornavirus crisis.

As well as claps, several people were putting on musical performances, including many from Preston Lodge Pipe Band.

A Scotmid store in Prestonpans is said to have closed for five minutes to clap and the church bell in Ormiston was ringing.

Our reporter Emma was live from Haddington High Street where residents paid their respects.

Michelle Szebert and some of her neighbours in Prestonpans paid tribute to her sister Pauline, an NHS worker, before the start of her shift.

Max and Alfie Letchford were piping in Longniddry as part of Preston Lodge Pipe Band's tribute.

Louise Byrne took this video of her son, who is a member of Preston Lodge novice Pipe Band, performing on his drum.

Wendy Crawford took this video of her son, Jamie Crawford, 12, performing. Jamie is also a member of Preston Lodge Pipe Band.

Sylvia Bakie took this video of a piper in Haddington.
