Matt Hancock, the UK’s health secretary, has announced he has tested positive for coronavirus.

He made the announcement on twitter this afternoon (Friday).

He is the second senior UK politician to test positive for the virus, also called covid-19, after Prime Minister Boris Johnson tested positive earlier this morning.

He said: “Following medical advice, I was advised to test for coronavirus. I‘ve tested positive. Thankfully my symptoms are mild and I’m working from home & self-isolating. Vital we follow the advice to protect our NHS & save lives.”
