CASES of coronavirus in the Lothians have now reached 40.
This is a rise of five in the past 24 hours.
The number is part of 322 across Scotland which were confirmed this afternoon (Friday), an increase of 56 from yesterday, the highest increase so far.
Six people have died from the virus, also called Covid-19, in Scotland, the first of whom was from the Lothian area.
As with all the cases, it is not known where about in the Lothian area the infected people are from.
About 7,550 tests for the virus have been competed across Scotland, with the vast majority, 7,228, coming back negative.
