A RESCUE helicopter and coastguard teams were called out yesterday evening (Wednesday) to conduct a search near North Berwick.
Dunbar Coastguard, North Berwick Coastguard, Senior Coastal Operations Officer S04B, Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 199 and North Berwick RNLI Lifeboat were tasked to assist officers from East Lothian Police with an incident requiring a search to be undertaken in the Canty Bay area.
The Scottish Ambulance Service Special Operations Response Team (SORT) were also on scene to assist if required.
A co-ordinated search plan was developed by the Coastguard Officer in Charge (OIC) in liaison with police and the coastguard operations centre.
North Berwick Coastguard said on Facebook: "Following extensive searches and having completed our tasking, all coastal resources stood down shortly after 9pm.
"No further information will be released at this time.
"Remember, if you see someone or something you are concerned about on the shoreline, cliffs, mud or water, call 999 immediately and ask for the coastguard. If in doubt, call!"
