POLICE descended on Knox Academy in Haddington this morning (Friday).

About six police cars and a police van were in the school grounds between about 8.45am and 9am – police dogs were also in attendance.

The vehicles went into the school’s playground and officers went around the back of the building.

The incident that officers were dealing with was not related to the school.

Police were dealing with a separate ongoing enquiry, with a search going on in the area around Knox Academy.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Courier: “Police were called around 7.15am to reports for concern for a person.

“The man was traced and taken to hospital.”
