Police have arrested a man
A MAN armed with a hammer has been arrested in Tranent.
Police arrested the man on High Street at 3.10pm on Wednesday afternoon.
The incident, which happened in broad daylight, was witnessed by a number of members of the public.
A police spokesperson said: "At 3.10pm, a man armed with a hammer was arrested in Tranent."
Police later added that a 36-year-old man had been charged and was due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday.
