A McDONALD’S drive-thru could be built in the car park at Musselburgh’s Tesco store.

Sixty-five full and part-time jobs could be created at the restaurant, with plans now lodged with East Lothian Council.

The fast food chain submitted plans to the local authority at the end of last week, with a number of documents outlining the proposed restaurant.

If approved, it would be built at the northern end of the car park, opposite the supermarket’s petrol station.

East Lothian Courier:

This document shows the location of the planned McDonald's restaurant, with the petrol station to the north and Tesco car park to the south.

According to documents lodged with the application: “The customer seating area comprises 101 covers for visitors to eat their meals within a relaxed modern environment.

“The dining area will include a variety of seating types and table sizes tailored to the customers' needs.”

Outside, there would be 30 car parking spaces, including two disabled spaces, as well as space for bicycles.

If the restaurant was to get the green light, it would be the second of its kind in the county, with a drive-thru already in place in Dunbar.

It would be located less than two miles away from the nearest McDonald's, at Fort Kinnaird.
