Has Glasgow reached Peak Burger? Not quite yet. Bread Meats Bread remains the champion of St Vincent Street with a beefy menu that continues to capture the imagination. Take your pick this week. 

2. Little Hoi An (New Entry)

Vietnamese street food on Allison Street. Attracting a cool crowd at this relatively new addition to the Southside. Small venue, big flavours. Look for their crispy roast pork, lemongrass chicken, rice noodle dishes and pho

3. 226 Gallowgate (New Entry) 

Serving up an impressive selection of quirky pub dishes and a fine choice of comfort food, alongside cocktails and craft beer. Highlights this week include sea bass spaghetti, chicken schnitzel and chips, with warm sticky toffee pudding for dessert.  

4. Cafe Gandolfi (Down Two) 

Glasgow Times:

Renew your relationship with one of the city's favourites. Part of a long tradition of Glasgow cafes. Now with an interesting small plate menu available in the bar upstairs alongside their long established signature dishes. One for all the family. The dining room is a work of art.  

5. Alchemilla (Down Four)​

It remains the place to go for simple cooking and clever combinations of ingredients. Regularly cited by hospitality staff and chefs as their favourite restaurant in Glasgow. A dream food place for vegetarians with a strong Mediterranean influence in their colourful dishes. Visit for a fresh, rewarding, good-value lunch.

6. Roastit Bubbly Jocks (New Entry)

Relaxed neighbourhood bistro with a strong reputation for serving the best of Scottish produce. Great service in a place with a real sense of local identity. 

7. Platform at Argyle St Arches (New Entry)

Screening the Six Nations rugby matches on a big screen and now open till midnight on a Saturday for late night street food. Craft beer, coffee, coctails and traders serving dishes inspired by international flavours. 

8. Tart Lobster (Down Two)

Lobster is the star attraction, served Newburg with cognac and cream, Thermidor with white wine and mustard or Kiev with garlic and herb butter. Tart creations include warm confit duck and fig with brie. The restaurant at Glasgow Hilton hotel has undergone a complete refurbishment  

9. Five March (Down Two)

Glasgow Times:

A slick bar with suburban sensibilities and creative small plates. Popular ingredients include seared scallops, torched salmon and pork croquettes. Joanna Lumley visited recently. They've just introduced a new menu. Your favourite local DJ probably drinks here.  

10. Eighty Eight (-)

A compact menu of sharing dishes that changes daily depending on what produce is available. Head Chef Robbie Morrow says: “The style of cooking is very simple, fresh, clean and seasonal". Proving to be a hit on Dumbarton Road.
