A HADDINGTON man has appeared in court to admit assaulting a man in Edinburgh.

Michael Brown seized hold of Martin Grimley and struggled with him at the Capital’s Hutchison Cottages in January 2018.

Brown, of Hardgate Court, also injured the man by grazing his hand with his teeth during the confrontation.

The 41-year-old appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Tuesday, where he admitted the attack.

Solicitor Christopher Fehilly said that Brown was an alcoholic but had stopped drinking since the incident. He added that he had “no memory of the offence” and said there had been “no injury” caused.

Sheriff Donald Corke noted that the incident took place nearly two years ago and acknowledged that the accused man had managed to stop drinking alcohol.

Sheriff Corke decided to warn Brown of his future behaviour and admonished him on the charge.
