YOUNGSTERS in East Lothian are set for the chance of a lifetime with a meeting and pool session with Scots swim hero Duncan Scott.

The 'exclusive' event has been planned as the 'prize' for enjoyleisure winning the Learn to Swim Service Provider of the Year 2019, sponsored by Scottish Water, at Scottish Swimming’s annual awards.

enjoyleisure’s programme is already helping 2,300 children in the county to learn to swim.

Duncan, Learn to Swim ambassador and winner of multiple medals at Olympics, Commonwealth Games and World Championships, takes part in a fun pool session at Musselburgh Sports Centre tomorrow (Wednesday).

As well as sharing swimming top-tips and giving swimming demonstrations to the children from across East Lothian, he will also host a question and answer session.

Duncan became the most decorated swimmer ever at a Commonwealth Games after finishing Gold Coast 2018 with six medals to his name.

He also holds the British record of 47.87sec for the 100m freestyle, won two silvers at his first Olympic Games in Rio and is the National Lottery Athlete of the Year.

Karen Ferguson, swimming development manager at enjoyleisure. said: "After launching the Learn to Swim programme in September 2017, we devised a strategy to create a quality teaching programme and an inclusive learning environment and the programme has just grown from there.

"We offer free lessons to draw youngsters into the programme that wouldn’t normally come along as it gives them the opportunity to see how beneficial it is.

"It’s amazing to see how the lessons are able to give children so much confidence.

"Getting the Learn to Swim programme to this point has been a real team effort from everyone involved, so we are really excited to be recognised for our dedication and rewarded with a visit from Duncan."
