A WOULD-BE thief will be sentenced next month after he was caught attempting to steal from a home in Prestonpans.

Kevin Edwards attempted to gain entry to a home near to the town’s Preston Tower by forcing a door.

Edwards, 42, pushed his body against the door and entered the grounds of the home before trying to open a rear door of the property.

He then entered a shed in the garden with the intention of stealing items on October 1.

Edwards, of Longdykes Road, Prestonpans, appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Monday, where he pleaded guilty. Sheriff John Cook deferred sentence to next month for social work reports.

Edwards pleaded guilty to attempting to gain entry to Nursery Cottage, Preston Tower, Prestonpans, by forcefully pushing a door and attempting to open a rear door, and to entering a shed with the intent to steal on October 1 last year.
