A PRESTONPANS man who acted aggressively towards his ex-partner has been told he cannot contact the woman for the next three years.

Andrew Edmond, of Nethershot Road, was on board a bus heading towards Mayfield in Midlothian when he grabbed a bag from the woman.

Edmond began struggling with her before he then shouted, swore and acted in an aggressive manner.

And when the couple arrived at Bogwood Road in Mayfield, police arrived to deal with the matter and Edmond became unruly and refused to co-operate with officers.

The 55-year-old struggled with two police officers and refused to follow their instructions during the incident in October last year.

Edmond was in the dock at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Tuesday, where he pleaded guilty to two offences.

He also had not guilty pleas accepted to three further allegations, including stealing the woman’s purse, uttering offensive racial language towards a man, and assaulting a second man by punching him to the head, all on the same date.

Edmond was ordered to pay a fine of £450 and also told he could not approach or contact the woman for the next three years after a non-harassment order was issued against him.

Edmond pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner towards the woman while on board a bus to Mayfield, Midlothian, on October 20 last year.

He also admitted struggling with two police officers at Bogwood Road, Mayfield, on the same date.
