A BID to create a pedestrian route from Spott to Dunbar has received a cash boost.

Spott Community Association wants a safe and direct route between the village and the nearby town created for cyclists and walkers.

It has been awarded £25,000 through Sustrans Scotland’s Places for Everyone programme, which is funded by Transport Scotland, to carry out a feasibility study for a traffic-free route.

Anne Lyall, chairwoman of the group, said: “We’re really pleased to have secured this significant funding and are excited to see what solutions are proposed.”

The town and village are 1.3 miles apart.

A project launch event will be held at Spott Village Hall on Tuesday at 7.30pm.

A presentation will be given and there will be an opportunity for questions to be asked.

Spott Community Association is looking forward to seeing what is proposed and will consult the community and report back with some options.

Once a preferred option has been decided, an application will be made for further funding to carry out more detailed work.
