TWO men have been arrested following break-ins in Prestonpans and Inveresk.

Last Friday, a business premises on Prestonpans High Street was subject to an attempted break-in.

Following enquiry, a suspect was identified and has now been arrested and charged.

Meanwhile, in the early hours of Sunday, East Lothian police officers responded to reports of a break-in in Inveresk.

A  stolen bike was found and a 30-year-old man was later charged with an attempted break-in and theft by housebreaking and has been reported to the procurator fiscal.

Chief Inspector Neil Mitchell, local area commander for East Lothian, said: “These further arrests highlight the good work from officers in East Lothian to tackle those intent on committing thefts and housebreakings in the county.

"We continue to have dedicated officers investigating these crimes and others quickly responding to reports of such crimes.

"This will continue into the weeks ahead and the enquiry team have positive lines of enquiry into other reported crimes."
