AN 86-year-old man who was struck by a car a week ago while crossing the road has died in hospital.

William Knox died as a result of his injuries following the incident last Thursday on the A6093 at Dovecot Park, Pencaitland, police have announced.

He was struck by a black Honda Civic car at about 7.10am while crossing the main road through the village and taken by ambulance to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

A full report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Sergeant John Easton, of Police Scotland's road policing unit, said: "Although this happened early in the morning, we know from CCTV that there was a white van in the area just around the time of the crash.

"It was not involved in the incident but the driver may have seen something or have dash-cam footage that may help our investigation."
