A SUSPECTED drink driver has been charged after a car crash on the A1 this morning (Thursday) caused significant delays for commuters.
The incident happened on the westbound side of the road north of Old Craighall junction, between Queen Margaret University and Fort Kinnaird.
The car involved was said to be sitting on the central reservation, with the outside lane closed on both sides of the carriageway.
The crash happened at about 7.40am, with no one injured.
Traffic was backed up as far as Wallyford due to the crash.
Police said two people fled the scene of the crash but, after a short foot pursuit, were caught and a positive roadside breath test was recorded.

Police confirmed a 43-year-old man had been charged with road traffic offences and was due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow.
