A MAJOR Police incident took place in Prestonpans around noon involving several police vehicles and the fire service.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At about 11.40am concern was raised for a man inside a property at Moodie Wynd, Prestonpans who was threatening self-harm. Officers and negotiators attended.
“He was removed from the property at about 1.15pm and taken to hospital for assessment.”
Several nearby residents reported being evacuated from their homes and a police source confirmed that there was concern for the gas supply to the property.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue service confirmed they attended the incident but their services were not needed.
Moodies Wynd is just off the B1361, opposite Royal Musselburgh Golf Club.
