A MISSING 12-year-old girl who had not been seen for two days has been traced "safe and well".

There was growing concern for the welfare of Sophia Gourlay, of Ormiston.

She had last been seen leaving Ross High School, Tranent, on Wednesday at 11.30am.

Police, who had issued an early-morning appeal for help in finding Sophia, announced at 3.20pm today that she had been found.

"We can confirm that Sophia Gourlay, 12, who had been reported missing from Tranent has now been traced safe and well," said police in East Lothian.

"Thanks to everyone who shared or otherwise helped with our earlier appeal."
