AN ORMISTON driver who carelessly overtook a group of cyclists on a county road has been fined and had penalty points added to his licence.
Gary Rae overtook the cyclists when he did not have time to do so, causing one to swerve out of the way to avoid a collision.
Rae, of Tynemount Avenue, was driving on the A199 near to Macmerry in January when he committed the offence.
The 47-year-old pleaded guilty to a charge of careless driving when he appeared in front of Sheriff Flynn at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Friday.
The sheriff decided to fine Rae £270 and told him he was adding three penalty points to his driving licence.
Rae pleaded guilty to driving carelessly by attempting to overtake a group of cyclists when there was insufficient time to do so, causing one man to take evasive action to avoid a collision, at the A199 near Macmerry on January 12.
