A PRESTONPANS man has been fined after he admitted biting a police officer on the leg.
Darrell Hotchkiss sank his teeth into the leg of sergeant Ross Falconer during an incident in Musselburgh.
Hotchkiss, of Moodie Wynd, pleaded guilty to assaulting the officer at the town’s Balcarres Street on June 2 when he appeared in the dock at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Friday.
The 24-year-old also pleaded guilty to a second offence of being in charge of a vehicle while over the drink-drive limit.
Hotchkiss was found to have 58mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath at Balcarres Street on the same date. The legal limit is 22mg of alcohol.
Hotchkiss was fined £360 to mark the assault charge and had 10 penalty points added to his licence for being in charge of a vehicle while over the limit.
