A FARM vehicle and a trailer have been stolen from a Haddington-based farm equipment supplier, with the car involved believed to be linked to a second incident.

A John Deere ‘Gator’ utility vehicle and a silver Ifor Williams trailer were stolen from Thomas Sherriff Co. based on Letham Road.

Police say that at about 11.30am on Sunday the four men involved got out of a silver or grey Mitsubishi and entered Thomas Sherriff’s yard.

They put the Gator on the trailer and towed the trailer away using the Mitsubishi.

The registration plate could not be made out due to it being covered in mud or dirt.

Earlier on that day at about 10.10am, a similar Mitsubishi was seen in a field near Fenton Barns.

It is thought that the occupants of the car were hare coursing.

A further call was made to police about males hare coursing in the same area but no vehicle was seen.

Police say it is unclear whether the two incidents are related and are appealing for information in regards to both incidents.

They added: “If anyone saw anything suspicious or has any information in relation to the theft or the hare coursing incidents, can they please contact police on 101 quoting incident number 0427 of 18/11/2019.”
