A MODEL Spitfire has pride of place at Strawberry Corner Garden Centre near Wallyford in remembrance of those who lost their lives in wartime.
The radio-controlled model, which can still take to the air, belongs to garden centre owner Billy Bussell, who is a member of Macmerry Model Flying Club.
The club used to meet near the former karting centre Raceland, near Gladsmuir, but moved two decades ago to Drem Airfield, where enthusiasts regularly enjoy watching their model aircraft take to the skies.
Billy, who lives in Drem, thought the model of the iconic Second World War fighter plane the Spitfire would make the perfect addition to the garden centre’s Remembrance display, which also features poppies, flags, the silhouette of a soldier and a banner with the words ‘Lest We Forget’.
“We hope customers will take the opportunity to donate to Poppy Scotland as we are collecting at the garden centre,” he added.
