A MUSSELBURGH man who carried out a series of attacks on his former partner has been jailed for eight months.

Christopher Pringle assaulted his then-partner on several occasions over a two-year period at various addresses in the town and in Prestonpans.

Pringle, of Pinkie Terrace, first attacked the woman between December 24, 2016, and January 1, 2017, when he repeatedly struck her to the head during a violent incident at a home at West Loan, Prestonpans.

The 39-year-old also assaulted the woman by kicking her to the body, all to her injury, during the attack where he also shouted abusive remarks at her.

He also targeted the woman on August 12, 2017, when he repeatedly kicked her on the body to her injury at the same address.

Pringle then assaulted his victim again by striking her to the head during a further incident at an address at Pinkie Terrace in Musselburgh on November 27 last year.

The final assault on the same woman came on Boxing Day last year at the Prestonpans address, where Pringle sat astride her and pinned her to a bed with his body weight.

He then repeatedly punched the defenceless woman to the head and body, all to her severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

Pringle had admitted four assault charges and one of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by uttering abusive comments to the woman when he appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court in September.

Sentence had been deferred for reports to be prepared and he returned to the dock at the Capital court last Tuesday.

Sheriff Peter McCormack sentenced Pringle to an eight-month prison sentence.
