TWO teenagers were arrested yesterday evening (Tuesday) for aiming fireworks at police officers in Tranent.
Three males were seen setting off fireworks in the street at Well Wynd and aimed some of these at police who responded to complaints.
Following a foot chase, teens aged 18 and 15 were arrested and charged. An enquiry has started to trace the other person involved.
Chief Inspector Neil Mitchell, local area commander, said: “It is always disappointing when people try to intentionally harm police officers and fortunately on this occasion no one was injured.
“Those arrested will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal and Children’s Reporter.
“Overall I would like to thank the vast majority of East Lothian residents as we had very few issues that required police involvement.”
Police in East Lothian responded to seven fireworks-related calls in total on Tuesday.
