PARAMEDICS were called out to a remote area of beach yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon to help a man who had taken unwell.

Coastguard teams from North Berwick and Dunbar received a call to help the Scottish Ambulance Service near Peffer Sands at about 3.40pm.

Teams were on scene at the beach, near Tyninghame, within 20 minutes and provided care before the arrival of an ambulance.

A spokesman for North Berwick Coastguard Rescue Team said: “The team were thereafter joined by the Special Operations Response Team from the Scottish Ambulance Service where, working together, the casualty was packaged and extracted from their position to an awaiting Polaris off road vehicle.

“The team thereafter ensured all parties made it safely back to the main access roadway before standing down.”
