A MUSSELBURGH man has been fined after he admitted a charge of acting aggressively towards his pregnant girlfriend.

John Reid, of Goose Green Court, turned up uninvited at an address in Wallyford and began shouting and swearing.

Reid also uttered threats of violence and acted aggressively towards his partner during the incident.

The 23-year-old had admitted the 2017 offence at a previous court hearing and he returned for sentencing last Monday.

Sheriff John Cook ordered Reid to pay a £180 fine.

During last week’s appearance at Edinburgh Sheriff Court, Reid was also cleared of a separate charge of assaulting his girlfriend following a trial.

It had been alleged that Reid had assaulted the woman by striking her to the head with his hand, seizing her by the body and pulling her from a wall at the town’s Balcarres Road on September 26 last year.

But following the prosecution’s evidence, defending solicitor Rebecca Weissgerber moved for a no case to answer motion which was accepted by Sheriff Cook. As a result, Reid was acquitted of the assault charge.

Reid was fined for behaving in a threatening or abusive manner towards the woman at Fa’side Gardens, Wallyford, on September 30 last year.
