A CHEMICAL spill near Torness Power Station closed the A1 in both directions this afternoon (Tuesday).
The chemical spillage was on the road between Bilsdean and Thorntonloch, near Dunbar, with emergency services on the scene.
There were severe delays and drivers were urged to avoid the area.
The spill was cleared by about 3.30pm and the road has now re-opened in both directions.
