HADDINGTON'S Tesco store is now back open after a power cut saw it closed this morning.

Customers approaching the entrance of the Newton Port superstore were turned away by staff as the premises were in darkness.

Motorists were also stopped as they entered the car park and told of the store closure but were still allowed to park there.

The car park was, however, noticeably quieter than usual.

A statement posted at 8.40am on the Tesco Haddington in the Community Facebook page said: "There has been a loss of power to the store overnight and we have not been able to open this morning - we are waiting on an engineer and will update when we think we will re-open.

"We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused."

The store has now re-opened, although there is a limited stock of fresh items following the loss of power.
