Celtic boss Neil Lennon has paid tribute to Rangers legend Fernando Ricksen.

The Hoops manager and Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell laid a wreath outside Ibrox stadium in honour of the Dutch footballer.

Tributes have been continuing to pour in for Ricksen after his death on Wednesday following a six-year-battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

He was 43-years-old.

The Hoops bosses paid tribute underneath the statue of John Greig, where Steven Gerrard and James Tavernier previously lay a wreath.

Their act was met by applause by a group of Rangers fans who had gathered outside the stadium.

The team have also announced they will pay tribute to the Dutchman during their match with Kilmarnock on Sunday.

They wrote on Twitter: "There will be a minute’s applause before Sunday's game against Kilmarnock at Celtic Park in memory of Fernando Ricksen who passed away this week."

Yesterday, the usual red, white and blue sea of the Ibrox support was flooded with orange shirts as fans paid tribute to their Dutch “warrior” during the Europa League clash with Feyenoord.

Around fifty-thousand supporters inside the stadium fell still as a minute’s silence was observed by both sides ahead of the match.

Both Rangers and Feyenoord players wore black armbands.

A large blue banner was held high by a section of the home supporters. It read: “A warrior until the end. Rest easy Fernando.”
