Verdict: Four stars.

She might hail from the US but pop superstar Ariana Grande feels like one of our own.

And the adopted Brit certainly felt that herself as she appeared before a screaming audience at the Hydro on Tuesday night.

The 26-year-old Florida native commanded the Glasgow’s audience attention from the get-go with an impressive acapella version of Raindrops (An Angel Cried) before she burst into smash God is a Woman.

With her trademark high pony in tow, she teased: “Glasgow, welcome to the Sweetener World Tour.”

Using a catwalk style stage, the pint-sized star strutted her best moves wearing impressive knee-high boots as she performed tracks Break Up, I’m Your Girlfriend and Be Alright.

Reggae-fused Nicki Minaj collaboration Side to Side lifted the atmosphere and prepared her hyped-up fans for anthem 7 Rings.

And the night was certainly one for the die-hard fans who revelled in all things Ariana despite enduring tough security checks to access the show, which was understandably introduced in the aftermath of the Manchester Arena bombing in 2017.

They have admiration and commitment to the singer - some even queued overnight for the show -  and it’s easy to understand why she’s so loved.

She oozes talent and her voice is a complete powerhouse with Ariana achieving notes not many singers can.

Love me Harder and Breathin’ showed off those belting vocals beautifully and puts Ariana at the forefront of becoming a new generation’s Mariah Carey.

Ariana also wears her heart on a sleeve with her songs and provides her fans with relatable lyrics, which is why she continues to produce chart-toppers including the high-energy Break Free. The dance track proved the songstress’ versatility while Dangerous Woman offered sultry sounding vocals.

No Tears Left to Cry was a highlight which followed an emotional Ariana thanking fans for their love. While Thank U, Next rounded off the night in spectacular style.
