A VIDEO circulating on social media showing a man left bloodied and injured after being struck over the head with an object in Haddington is being investigated by police.
The graphic 56-second clip shows two men on The Sands with one holding an implement and using it to strike the other on the head, causing injury and blood to pour from his head.
The victim stands still during the assault and does not attempt to avoid it.
In two days, the video has been been viewed on social media more than 1.3 million times, retweeted almost 6,000 times, liked more than 18,000 times and attracted hundreds of comments.
Police in East Lothian are conducting inquiries into the incident.
In a statement, they said: “We’d urge people to be mindful of sharing such content, especially without full understanding of the circumstances.”
The Courier has decided not to share the video.
